About the Abilene Community Band

Mission Statement:

The successor to the city and community bands of earlier years, the Abilene Community Band first performed on July 4, 1976 as part of Abilene's bicentennial celebration. Every year, the band performs at numerous civic and cultural events in the Abilene area, as well as Spring, Fall, and Christmas concerts at the Paramount Theatre. The Band's repertoire includes standard Symphonic Band repertoire, patriotic music, marches, Broadway/movie show tunes, and big band numbers. Members of the band are all volunteers and come from a multitude of different occupational backgrounds, e.g. educators, engineers, professional musicians, Professionals of all types, Air Force personnel, accountants, receptionists, real estate agents, journalists and retirees.
